Raph Mura

- Rosalie Cunningham
"Premier drums have a voice of their own: warm, dynamic, and alive. They let me hit hard but still groove with subtlety."

Paris-raised, London-based drummer Raphael Mura blends post-punk energy, psychedelic creativity with organic groove and textural nuance. Inspired by ’90s radio heroes Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins) and Dave Grohl (Nirvana), punk innovators Fugazi (Brendan Canty), Sonic Youth (Steve Shelley) The Stooges (Scott Ashton) and ’70s art-rock/psych masters Can (Jaki Liebezeit), King Crimson (Michael Giles), Black Sabbath (Bill Ward) and Led Zeppelin (John Bonham), he fuses power with precision to serve the song. Raphael’s drums breathe, balancing energy and improvisational freedom.

Raphael’s career spans post-punk, alternative, and psychedelic rock. He began with the French post-punk trio Underground Railroad (One Little Indie Records), where he played drums and sang lead vocals on three albums. He later contributed to John & Jehn, the early project of Jehnny Beth, and drummed for Purson, Rosalie Cunningham’s acclaimed neo-psych band, refining his improvisational, song-centered approach. In 2025, he joined Rosalie Cunningham and her band once more after recording drums in 2024 on her latest LP ‘To Shoot Another Day’ for her next European tour.

Touring in 2026 with Rosalie Cunningham across the UK, Europe and South America.
