Great results at the World Pipe Band Championships

Premier is very proud to announce fantastic results for Premier endorsers at this year's World Pipe Band Championships, held at Glasgow Green, Glasgow on Saturday 14th August 2010. Fine weather, 8,000 participating pipers and drummers, a crowd of 53,000 spectators and an all time record entry of 239 bands representing 12 countries meant this year's World Pipe Band Championship was better and more competitive than ever.

Champions were crowned in each Grade during the day long competition, culminating in the ultimate accolade: 2010 RSPBA Grade 1 World Champions, which was awarded to Premier endorsers the St. Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band from Ireland, along with the award for Best Drum Corps. “I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last couple of years, especially Premier, for building the best sounding drum in the world. Thank you Premier Team.” said Stephen Creighton, leading drummer of St. Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band.

A fantastic finals performance earned Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band from Northern Ireland a second place as this year's runners up, while Fife Constabulary Pipe Band from Scotland also gave a great performance, topping the qualifying table and finishing 8th overall. Peel Regional Police Pipe Band from Canada played very well, delivering a set that most on the day thought would earn a finals place; the band just missed out, finishing a very credible 7th in the qualifying round. The highlight of the day for many was the combined drum corps of Field Marshal Montgomery and Peel giving an impromptu rendition of the famous 'Duthart salute' at the Premier stand.

Both St. Laurence O'Toole and Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band have had excellent championship winning results between them for the other major competitions this season; St. Laurence O'Toole winning the World, European and All-Ireland Championships, and best drum corps in all three; Field Marshal Montgomery winning the British, Scottish and Ulster Championships.

All the Grade 1 Premier endorser bands took to the field using Premier HTS 800 snare drums and Professional Series bass and tenors. The refined HTS 800 represents the pinnacle of pipe band snare drum design and performance, and the Professional Series with, its unique free-floating shell and turnbuckle tuning system, offers the most comprehensive size range on the market today enabling capture of the entire tuning spectrum.

Premier would like to extend congratulations to the worthy winners and appreciation of all the participating bands and competitors throughout the season.
