World class tuition from Drum Scotland

Wherever you are in the world, if you are looking for high quality highland drumming tuition, Drum Scotland’s tutors provide a global program, offering drumming lessons via Skype, one-on-one personal tuition, active group workshops, and a composition service.

Principle tutor Simon Grant is a highly sought after instructor who started drumming at the age of 13 with the Elgin Scottish Pipe Band where he became the leading drummer of the band within just six months. At the age of 16 Simon joined the army and spent 11 years playing with the Highlanders Pipes and Drums, serving five of these as leading drummer.

Spending three years teaching at the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming, one of only a few schools of excellence that specialises in piping and drumming tuition and offers official qualifications through the Piping and Drumming Qualifications board, he left the Army in May 2010. Simon has enjoyed playing in grade one competitions with The Clan Gregor Society Pipe Band, Fife Constabulary Police Pipe Band and the Lothian and Borders Police Pipe Band.

He now serves as musical advisor to the Army Cadet Force, as an assessor for the Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board, as a drumming teacher for the East Lothian Pipes and Drums trust, and acts proudly as an Ambassador for Premier allowing him to offer expert advice on drum selection, tuning and maintenance.

Simon plays a Premier HTS 800 in sapphire sparkle with Diamond Chrome and says "I play with Premier as I believe that the pitch, projection and clarity of sound produced can’t be matched by any other manufacturer."
