John Watt Fjords / Session Drummer

I’ve always proudly played Premier from the day I started out - at every level the build quality, tone, power, versatility and dependability is absolutely unmatched. Whatever the situation, I can always count on my drums to deliver.

John Watt is a professional drummer living in the United Kingdom.

John took to drums in 2004, aged 18, and taught himself by ear using a range of rock & metal records to piece together the skills he felt he would need to perform live. For a few years in his childhood he lived close to Leicester and would often see the kits on display at the old Premier factory tower – inspired by this he chose a Premier Cabria as his very first kit.

The Cabria kit saw 3 years of service, taking John from his formative playing to club shows and right through to a successful audition for Oxford based Industrial Metal group October File. At this point it was time for a much needed upgrade – Premier was, of course, the natural choice and John’s much loved Cabria was replaced with an Artist Maple setup.

From 2007 John played on 3 albums with October File along with a live DVD and a number of festivals across Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Metalcamp, Bloodstock and many, many more) as well as tours with international artists such as Prong, Fear Factory, Sylosis and Lacuna Coil.

John also moved into session work in 2012 and has since worked with a number of artists from across the pop, rock, blues and metal genres which includes Chasing Ghosts, EnkElination, E of E, Orgone Ocean Sonar, Sacrilegious Throne, The Endeavour, Beyond The Chaos, Thesis Progression, Winter Storm and a host of solo songwriters.

2016 saw the end of John’s time with October File as the band decided to bring things to a close. It was at this time that John was approached by Nottingham based progressive group Fjords, whom he’d recorded an EP for several years previously, and was invited to join. Having always been extremely proud of the work he’d done for the band he could hardly say no to the opportunity to take things further.

Now as a member of Fjords, John is now set to release some of his most challenging drum parts to date and does so, very proudly, as an ambassador of the Premier brand.
